Construction Cone Blog 2

Something that I noticed about people is that some are afraid of others who express themselves in strange ways. They just do their best to go on and pretend that nothing is happening. I had people that were frozen looking straight ahead away from me. Someone else was going into Walgreen's talking on a phone and took an accidental glance at me then instantly turned away. When I went for some food at Tim Horton's the workers didn't acknowledge it at all. Maybe they were trying to be corporately polite, but I don't really see a reason to. I think I knew that I was dressed up as a construction cone. I was reminded of a philosophy that you hate aspects of people that are negative attributes that you have as well. So, essentially, people that are terrible about making a fool of themselves in this way were almost frightened of the idea of someone else doing it. At least that's what I took from it.

Now each of these people were doing their best to avoid the fact that I was dressed as a construction cone. Most of them never payed any attention to me. What I found to be fun about this was that I could tell they were thinking about it. The person staring straight ahead missed the light when it turned green, the person at Walgreen's suddenly turned to the wrong door, and the person at Tim Horton's dropped my change when they went to put it in my open hand.

I got reactions that were quite the opppostite, of course. I had a few laughs and just funny looks, a couple of horn honks, and a guy that took pictures. I had the information listed on three websites and got many views from each of them. I told myself that as long as I made one person laugh that it was a success. I did that as soon as I came downstairs at work with the outfit on.

One other reaction that I strangely enjoyed was the one of people that didn't even notice. It fascinates me when I do stuff like this and people don't realize it. I just think of all the amazing and interesting things that go on during a day, most of which we have no idea happen. It's just that people were right there, feet from me, and still had no idea that something was going on completely out of the ordinary. I think that it just goes with my theory that almost everyone pictures themselves in a music video while they're in their car. Maybe I'll explain that one in more detail later!
