This week's effect to be recorded is David Blaine's Torn and Restored Card Transposition from his special Magic Man. Nothing will be noticably changed from the effect. It's just a cool one that I like. The concept of this video was originally going to lead up to me performing a stunt where I have to escape from a locked up mail bag before being run over by a car. The effects in the video were going to be me trying to find magical ways to escape the bag. The stunt has been put on hold for a future video or some other idea, but many of the effects from the original video's conception are still being used. This effect (and a few of the others) were actually also leading up to a huge money making miracle I was going to perform. That idea has also been put on hold for another video due to it, well actually being impossible!
The Torn/Restored Transpo can currently be previewed at the Video page (sorry for poor audio quality.) We plan to record on Thursday during the L.P. summer concert series.
This week I am also working on next week's effect Card thru Window. The one I'm performing is from, I believe, John Kennedy (with some handling taken from a Jay Sankey effect of a similar nature.) A spectator chooses ANY card that they want. I tear a corner off the card and give them the piece (showing my hands empty-no switching corners or any other funny business) as a receipt of their selection. I then put their card into the middle of the deck and wrap it in a rubber band so that none of the cards can be moved or tampered with. I instantly hand the deck to a spectator to hold on to and tell someone else to watch the deck and make sure I, nor anyone else, comes near it. I then walk over to a window and roll up my sleeves (unless I wear a t-shirt) and show my hands completely and undeniably empty. With just a wave of my hands you see the spectator's card appear on the OTHER SIDE OF THE GLASS IN FULL VIEW OF EVERYONE. The spectator can go inside the building and match their corner to the card and it is A 100% PERFECT MATCH. Not only that but they can of course go through the deck and they will not find a duplicate card anywhere. To further prove their is nothing tricky I will even allow them to keep EVERYTHING. We plan to record this one some time during Cruisin' Downriver on Saturday.
Other likely effects to be recorded include Jay Sankey's torn and restored bill.
